The Client: Dubai Mall – Burj Downtown A Race Against Time The Challenge: The Dubai Mall, a huge and complex property, and also one of the largest shopping malls in the world, was set to open in 45 days for the very first time. The client, however, lacked sufficient access equipment to clean the entire premise in time for the opening. Clients Requirements: Cleaning the premise from top to bottom before the 45-day deadline in conjunction with several other contractors working on the site. The Solution: Both the internal and external surfaces of the entire premise were analyzed. A complete risk assessment was prepared, documented and submitted so implementation could begin as soon as possible.

Since rope access cleaning techniques were scalable, extra technicians were brought onto the job as and when needed to meet the deadline. Gecko organized its teams into work groups based on surface types and mall sections. The internal teams applied specialized cleaning detergents and treatments for the various surface types inside the mall, ranging from modern to oriental patterns. The external teams utilized pressure washing and deep cleaning on external surfaces.
The Result: By relying on Gecko's own project management approach, the job was completed within a challenging timeframe and the client was able to open the mall as planned, on time, avoiding a potential loss of income or reputation.
